Biggest Whiner?
From a February ESPN poll of players from all 30 teams:
QUESTION 4: WHICH PLAYER COMPLAINS THE MOST ON THE ICE?

Crosby • TOP VOTE-GETTER: Sidney Crosby (52%).
• More on Crosby | Statistics | Penguins page
• A simple Google search will tell you what some fans think of Sidney Crosby on the ice ("cry baby" is the most often-used G-rated word); but at various times in his short career, Crosby has been accused of complaining too much to officials about calls or non-calls and embellishing fouls to draw penalties. It was a subject that was heightened during last season's playoffs. Crosby has repeatedly denied being that kind of a player.
• OTHER MENTIONS: Chris Pronger (8%); Sean Avery (7%); Steve Ott (5%); Ryan Getzlaf (4%); Shane Doan (3%); Marc Savard, Darcy Tucker (2%); Todd Bertuzzi, Mike Richards, Kris Draper (1%); 8 players with one vote.

Skipping Class
Couldn't stay away for this one. It's just not the same when you don't watch it live.
Lots of people talking dynasty tag for the Wings with the win tonight. Only three people have played in these finals who will have been there for every single Cup. Homer is one of them.
Osgood has only won two and been around for three, but I really am pulling for him tonight.
Let's Go Wings! Please don't make us try to survive watching a game 7.

Welcome Back Pavel
Early in the second, Pavel already has an assist. It's huge to finally have him back. This is a different team.
Time for a powerplay.... and Kronwall scores. 3-0. Take that bitches!

Your Mission Should You Choose To Accept It
There are really two parts to any playoff series. There's the Wings love, and there's opponent revulsion.
Mostly it's Wings love and I'm cool with that, but I would like to introduce a bit more of the opponent revulsion thing. There's not much time left so we have to do this fast.
http://thepensblog.com/
Here's how this game works:
1. Go to their site
2. Register (top right corner)
3. Start commenting
DO NOT identify yourself as a Red Wings fan. You need to be a Pens fan and come up with the most outrageous posts you can without getting yourself banned. Even your new screen name should be part of the game.
Copy and paste your best comments and put them in the replies to this post.
Have fun and good luck.

I Can't Help It
For Those of You Who Can't Watch CBC
This was a very nice opening to last night's game. This is why I would rather watch CBC than NBC. Don Cherry's jacket was disappointingly conservative, but other than that it was very nice.
The dropping of Stanley was such a technical marvel though!

And So It Begins
Word is Lidstrom and Ericsson are in, Datsyuk and Draper are out.
Three games in four days should make things interesting. Hopefully Datsyuk will be back before this is over. If the Wings can shut down Crosby and Malkin, the rest of their squad shouldn't be a problem.
Here we go!
But first...
This goal cam pic of the game winner against Chicago. What a great view!

Portland Winterhawks
Not getting warm fuzzys from the Winterhawks.
I am junior class adviser this year, and as such I assist with several projects the junior class must accomplish. Our main goal for the year is to plan and host the Senior formal. To do so, we have ongoing fundraisers.
The next big thing is our part in the school auction. Did you know that tuition at a private school (at least around here) only accounts for a portion of the operating costs. Almost half of the remaining costs are offset by fundraisers.
With a little creative thought the juniors chose "road trip" as the theme for their auction goods this year. As a hockey fan, I thought: Winterhawks!
A trip to Portland would make an incredible road trip.
I contacted the Winterhawks and received a dozen phone calls and emails--because my email was directed to "group sales" instead of anyone who could donate tickets for a worthy cause. Once I finally had the opportunity to explain the situation, my email was forwarded to the proper person.
And nothing.
Nothing has happened since. Not even an "I'm sorry, we can't help."
So much for a road trip to Portland. I'm back to scouring the cheap ticket sites for weekend trips to Phoenix when the Wings are in town.

Bring it On
Spring Break is just around the corner.
It is next to impossible to catch a student texting in class. They have their phone hidden in their pocket and they simply blind text. What a skill! They can't write worth a hoot, but they can text.
Watched a series of clips about badly behaving hockey players this morning. The tantrums on the ice remind me of kinders.
The unwritten rules of hockey and those who follow hockey are next to impossible to figure out.
I can't wait for Spring Break...
So where's the cup stuff?

I Really Like Scrubs
Scrubs is one of the few great shows on television today. I can't thank ABC enough for rescuing the show and giving us a decent final season.
How is this relevant to hockey? Oh - it's relevant.

Is this thing on?
Has anyone noticed that the voting widget is still up there?
Has anyone noticed that there isn't a single player from the 2008 Stanley Cup Champions playing in the All Star Game this weekend?
Care to talk about it?

FRANKENSTEIN
What if the biggest monster in all of NHL history could be brought back to life?
What if Claude Lemieux was signed by San Jose? Would it matter that he was 43 years old? Would it matter that he hasn't played in 6 years?
No, of course none of that matters. All the Wings have to do is call Darren up from Grand Rapids. Silly Sharks...
